Perhaps the DC-7-C The "Seven Seas" was the best piston engine airliner ever build. But the days were counted before the first service started. It went into service just two and a half year before "Pan Am makes the world going great", with the Boeing B707-121 the first jet in service. Knowing of the new jets Pan Am ordered just 13 of the "Seven Seas".
